Meet Guy Garcia, M.A., CCC-SLP
Our Owner and Founder.
Guy is a certified speech-language pathologist and owner of 1-to-1 Kid Talk LLC, a practice located in the Los Angeles region of California. He also has extensive training with autism, apraxia of speech and bilingual speech therapy. Garcia has more than 20 years of experience working in both private and public schools, homes and clinical settings throughout Arizona and California
Garcia received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado, and his Masters of Science in Communication Disorders from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Board certifications
Garcia is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and maintains his Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC). He is a certified Autism Specialist. He holds his Department of Public Health license from the states of California and Arizona and his professional educator certificate from the Arizona Department of Education.

Garcia is a Level 1 PROMPT trained speech-language pathologist, with additional trainings in the Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC), More Than Words (Hanen Centre), Talkabilty (Hanen Centre) It Takes Two to Talk (Hanen Centre), LSVT Loud Pediatrics and Social Thinking Clinical Training Graduate (Michelle Garcia Winner). He is also trained in JASPER, (Joint Attention Symbolic Play Emotional Regulation) intervention technique from the University of California Los Angeles, UCLA.
Awards
Garcia has received multiple American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Awards for Continuing Education. He was also awarded a Friend of Department award from the Department of Communication Sciences from New Mexico State University.

Meet Ashley Brien, Ph.D., CCC-SLP
Autism Expert, Editorial Board
Dr. Brien is an ASHA certified speech-language pathologist. She received her MS in Communication Sciences and Disorders and her PhD in Interprofessional Health Sciences from the University of Vermont. She has instructed many courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the areas of autism, social cognition, augmentative and alternative communication, disability, and research methods. Additionally, she provides intervention in speech, language, AAC, and social communication to children and adolescents and their families. Dr. Brien’s research focuses on the development, implementation, and social validity of family-centered interventions to support social learning and episodic memory in individuals with autism. She has also designed intervention materials to support social cognition and communication in a variety of populations with social learning challenges. She has written about her work in several peer-reviewed articles and presented her findings nationally and internationally. She is also co-author of the book Supporting Social Learning in Autism: An Autobiographical Memory Program to Promote Communication and Connection.s.
Meet Eddie Ornelas, Ph.D.
Family Therapist Expert, Editorial Board
Eddie Ornelas has a PhD in Counseling Psychology from Colorado State University and a Master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance from the University of Arizona. Since joining CODAC in 2005, Dr. Ornelas has held supervisory roles in various departments at CODAC including the Developmental Disability Team, Forensic Services Team and as the Senior Director of Outpatient Services. Dr. Ornelas became a licensed psychologist in June of 2013 and a licensed substance abuse counselor in 2004. In his current role, Dr. Ornelas maintains oversight of integrated health and wellness services at CODAC.
Dr. Ornelas chose the field of counseling and psychology to help people and families/families of choice to reach their full potential and live healthy, stable and productive lives. He believes in an integrative approach which nurtures the body, mind and spirit.
